CRITIC’S PICK: A group of teenage Beatle fans go to desperate lengths to see the Fab Four’s 1964 U.S. debut on The Ed Sullivan Show. Director Robert Zemeckis made his debut with this 1978 screwball comedy that these days is very hard to find. Character actor Eddie Deezen is scheduled to be in attendance. — Curt Holman

From the venue:

Before taking us Back to the Future, director Robert Zemeckis took us back to the day Beatlemania hit New York! Featuring a Q&A with star Eddie Deezen and more!

Zemeckis’ debut feature (executive produced by Steven Spielberg) follows a group of teenagers trying to meet the Beatles on the day of the band’s U.S. debut on The Ed Sullivan Show. Devotees of Zemeckis’ later works (particularly Back to the Future and Forrest Gump) will recognize their roots in this lighthearted farce flush with young talents.

Eddie Deezen launched his career with memorable roles in Grease, 1941, Midnight Madness, and WarGames. Starting in the 1990s, Deezen voiced numerous animated characters, notably Mandark on Dexter’s Laboratory. He worked again with Robert Zemeckis on the holiday classic The Polar Express. Photos and autographs will be available for purchase from Eddie.
