THE THRILL: Sam Smith set to perform.

The year’s hottest concert? Quite possibly so!

Hot because it’s Sam Smith bringing The Gloria Tour to Duluth/Atlanta. Hot because it’s July. Hot because there’s no other artist of note recently who has set the world on fire like Smith.

Reinterpreting the soulful sounds that first returned to the pop charts this century thanks to the likes of Amy Winehouse and Adele, Smith reinterprets the rhythm & blues that took a backseat to rap and hip-hop in the latter part of the 20th century and remakes the music as their own.

Smith focuses on feeling and emotion in their delivery — and you feel them as they feel the power that propels their vocals into a higher realm of passion and intensity.

When Smith announced the release of Gloria, their fourth album, they described it as “an emotional, sexual and spiritual liberation,” with the Oscar and GRAMMY® award winning singer adding, “Oddly, it feels like my first-ever record … and it feels like a coming of age.” Indeed, listening to Gloria, Smith are right. The album, like the artist, is the real deal!

The Gloria Tour focuses on material from Gloria, but don’t expect the hits from his 2014 debut, In the Loney Hour, it’s 2017 follow-up, The Thrill of it All, or 2020’s Love Goes to be left behind.
