It is humbling and inspirational when you meet a national icon. Mary Frances Early is a soft spoken troublemaker…good trouble, as the late civil rights leader and congressman John Lewis described it. She was the first African American graduate of the University of Georgia in 1962. Her courageous path to that important “first” is the subject of her book, The Quiet Trailblazer.

The inspirational book will be the subject of her “Meet the Author” presentation live at Butler-Baker School on Tuesday, March 1st, at 7pm. Doors open at 6:30pm. Admission is free, and the event will also be available on Zoom. The event is being co-sponsored by Georgia Writers Museum and Butler-Baker Alumni Project, Inc. A key feature of this event will be a short interview with Early by local retired educator, Sandra Parham. Contact Georgia Writers Museum for reservations to this educational evening, or visit www.georgiawritersmuseum.org.
