Echoes of Nature: Dialogues Between Traditional Chinese Music and Art

Two artists will present live Chinese brush painting and calligraphy (Nan Liu) accompanied Chinese guzheng and guqin music (Haiqiong Deng). In addition to demonstrating basic musical and artistic techniques involved in their disciplines, they also highlight intersections between these genres as expressions of traditional and contemporary Chinese thought verbally, visually, and aurally. Designed to be interactive between the audience and performers, this presentation will allow audience members to approach the artists and watch the painting and playing processes from a close proximity. Followed by An Evening of Chinese Music concert in the Emory Performing Arts Studio.
