Black Restaurant Week returns for its fifth year Aug. 5-14 to celebrate African American, African and Caribbean influences in Atlanta’s culinary industry. The 10-day event “seeks to educate consumers and foodies on the abundance of cultural cuisines in the local food scene,” a press release states.

Participating eateries include Highland Bistro, Fin & Feathers and Aunty Betty’s Halal Soul Food. “With less than 20% of U.S. employer businesses being minority-owned, the survival of Black-owned culinary businesses is in jeopardy,” organizers said. Details: blackrestaurantweeks.com
