Take me "IN" to the Ball Park: Virtual Truist Park in the Unreal Engine

The Atlanta Braves have announced the launch of a metaverse reproduction of Truist Park, reportedly the most complete simulation of its kind in North American sports. The simulated park is the creation of the Atlanta-based virtual platform company Surreal Events and is built using so-called ‘Unreal Engine’ technology developed by Epic Games.

Braves CEO Derek Schiller said in a statement the digital version of the park “will offer limitless opportunities to create unique fan engagements in the metaverse and we are proud to be the first team to offer this immersive experience.”

One of the inspirations for Digital Truist Park was the work that rapper and producer Travis Scott created in the Fortnite metaverse, according to Observer, in particular a video game performance titled ‘Astronomical’ that was seen by about 45 million people. observer.com
