The former chief operating officer for the DeKalb County School District has filed a lawsuit claiming he was fired after just nine months on the job for raising red flags about alleged mismanagement of funds. Ben Estill claims to have uncovered potential violations of district policies and state law but was terminated after the board deemed him “not a good fit” without specifying a cause.

Estill’s attorney Steven Wolfe says the lawsuit aims for a jury to find the district violated the state’s whistleblower act by retaliating against him and should award lost wages and benefits, plus damages. 11alive.com
