Republicans stick their noses where they don’t belong
Georgia Republicans snuck in a last-minute measure on Monday night that will enable high schools to prevent transgender girls from playing women’s sports if “it determines that it is necessary and appropriate.” Republican Speaker of the House David Ralston declared the bill a “compromise” as opposed to an absolute ban, as had been sought initially.
Georgia Equality chief Jeff Graham called the bill “a political attempt to score points” that “poses great harm to transgender students.” Democratic state Sen. Sally Harrell said the change “may have significant impacts on the mental health of a small group of children.” axios.com
