A bill that would improve access to mental health care and has bipartisan support in the state legislature is being panned by right wing groups. Georgia Right to Life and Truth in Education have both lobbied against the measure and Republican candidate for lieutenant governor Jeanne Seaver says it would categorize pedophilia as a mental illness as opposed to a crime. Others say it would threaten Second Amendment rights.

“Their concerns are fact-free, they are outrageous, they are ridiculous,” says Republican House Speaker David Ralston, a co-sponsor of the bill. “I don’t see a lot of impact that this opposition is having.” miamiherald.com
