Two nuclear reactors near Augusta will cost Georgia Power customers another $224 million a year, if the company gets its way. A proposed rate hike would equal about 3 percent or $3.78 a month on a typical bill of $122.73. The increase would kick in after Unit 3 at Plant Vogtle starts generating electricity, which is scheduled for June 2022. Further increases are expected once Unit 4 starts up sometime in 2023. A third rate hike is likely for Georgia Power to recoup higher fuel costs. abcnews.go.com
