With a reputation that extends beyond the lowcountry, B’s Cracklin BBQ in Savannah is a favorite among Atlanta food lovers. Instagram is full of chef’s adventures to bare-bones, south Georgia operation. Alas, on June 11, before this food lover had a chance to visit, the restaurant, pitmaster Bryan Furman’s life’s work, was consumed by fire.

?
The do-gooders behind Kimball House decided to step in and help the rebuilding efforts. Should you choose to attend (you should), taste some of Bryan’s bbq without the road trip. On Sun., July 26 from noon to 3 p.m. (or until the food runs out) the patio will serve as B’s Cracklin BBQ on the road.

Here’s what is on the menu: pastured hog barbecue from Grassroots Farms, ribs, and chicken. Kimball House’s Jeff Wall and Staplehouse’s Ryan Smith are cooking up the sides including collard greens described as “Diana Ross says these are the best.” Local Creature Comforts beer will be available for sipping.

Save the date for a chance to eat a plate and help rebuild a barbecue spot recently listed in Garden and Gun’s BBQ Bucket List (June/July 2015). Kimball House is located on 303 East Howard Avenue in Decatur. For more information: www.kimball-house.com.
